Dear my bloggy friends,<br />
<br />
It's hard to believe another new year has come...<br />
<br />
It's also almost three years since I first joined blogging community as well as the crafting world. Crochet and knitting were something too new to me three years ago. This blog marked the beginning of me with crochet, and with knitting later on. This blog were not only my little corner where I learned and shared all the love of crafting to everyone, it took note from my first improvement to how I really got into these crafts. Blogging created a wonderful opportunity for me to meet a lot of wonderful people, to have a lot of friends, close friends that I will never forget. <br />
<br />
So, it's absolutely not easy, I know, but it's time to say goodbye to you all. I have been away from blogging for a while, I even cannot remember when I last logged on to my blog. I told myself I would be back when all is settled, but work, family and many other things have taken over my life and they are things I have to put all my heart and energy in. The motivation for my blog went down and the last few months it was hard to fill my blog with an inspirational post. Further more, I would enjoy the joy of creating rather than I have to think of what I will blog about...<br />
<br />
Thank you very much for those who sent messages during my absence asking if I am OK and that I have been missed. Just let you know how I was happy and felt warm in my heart reading such kind words. I am grateful for the great inspiration and encouragement from all of you so far. That helped and meant a lot to me. Thank you very much for the wonderful time we had throughout the last few years, that made my blogging journey happy and enjoyable. It was all fun, wasn't it...<br />
<br />
Not sure if I will start another blog in the future, but at this moment please allow me to turn off comment function on this post for a couple of weeks, I really need a break and may not be able to get back to you as quickly as I want to. To my new followers, thank you for your visit and I do apologize for the silence during the time. I hope you are able to find what you are looking for. <br />
<br />
From the bottom of my heart, THANK YOU.<br />
<br />
Hope your 2013 will be a wonderful year of creation. Wishing everyone good health, happiness and success. <br />
<br />
Goodbye.<br />
<br />
Hugs to all, LS xxxlovestitchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00234551267144242844noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3081803395409933384.post-86701876229262298082012-10-30T14:10:00.002+07:002012-10-31T20:25:37.962+07:00Sunday Morning SweaterHello everyone! <br />
<br />
Thank you so much for your lovely words on my knitted lilac top. My passion for knitting is growing and I'm so happy to hear how people around think or feel about my "achievement" in knitting - yes, whenever a knitted project is done, it's such an achievement to me! So, thank you!<br />
<br />
See what I'm so excited to show you today - my Sunday Morning Sweater (just simply I finished it in a beautiful morning of a beautiful Sunday)! You can guess how much I'm happy with the result!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Tx-vhodJ19g/UI0ybAIMnFI/AAAAAAAACsM/7cnvwYIFKoc/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Tx-vhodJ19g/UI0ybAIMnFI/AAAAAAAACsM/7cnvwYIFKoc/s400/knitted_sweater_2.jpg" width="375" /></a></div>
<br />
I have made three sweaters so far and this one is my best loved ever! It looks just too cute and stylish, doesn't it!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v05baUyWu5E/UI00w8Co_oI/AAAAAAAACsU/RCin12Q6uwk/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-v05baUyWu5E/UI00w8Co_oI/AAAAAAAACsU/RCin12Q6uwk/s400/knitted_sweater_2.2.jpg" width="356" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the pattern on <a href="http://www.pickles.no/good-karma-chameleon-sweater/" target="_blank">Pickles</a> and I just loved it. It's also available on <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/good-karma-chameleon-sweater" target="_blank">Ravelry</a>. The pattern (for size XS) calls for 200gr cotton yarn, but not sure how mine would turn out so I used 2 balls of Lion Brand Cotton Ease in my stash for the first try. Actually 1 ball I ripped out from a hat which I rarely wore.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-x3IQAfWbEVA/UI0yWxgp1ZI/AAAAAAAACsE/MJwFFcdMXFY/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="266" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-x3IQAfWbEVA/UI0yWxgp1ZI/AAAAAAAACsE/MJwFFcdMXFY/s400/knitted_sweater_2.6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I was worried I would run out of yarn as the yardage of my yarn is different from Pickles', not to mention it was not a full skein after being ripped out from the hat. I decided to "insert" some rounds/rows with the pink Lion Brand Wool Ease leftover instead of buying one more skein of cotton yarn. So happy with my decision: pictured is how much yarn leftover after my sweater was all done! Just about 2 meters! Good way to clear my stash!!! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dNKjI1lLQJQ/UI0x69zhHeI/AAAAAAAACr8/Yte-fxWNMWA/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dNKjI1lLQJQ/UI0x69zhHeI/AAAAAAAACr8/Yte-fxWNMWA/s400/knitted_sweater_2.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Again, this sweater fits me wonderfully! I pretty much love the pattern, it's very easy and fast to knit. The only thing that I was struggling with is the Kitchener stitch to join front and back side of the shoulders together. I had to unravel and try again, and again, as if I could never go right with this technique, until I found this <a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gq-qP-SPDuM" target="_blank">wonderful video</a>. I digged out Youtube and watched many videos about Kitchener stitch during the time, but this one is really a big help to me! Things turned to so easy and so fun with it! <br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-425OrQ06WCM/UI0x0PWlKzI/AAAAAAAACro/mRloaalFPsY/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="250" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-425OrQ06WCM/UI0x0PWlKzI/AAAAAAAACro/mRloaalFPsY/s400/knitted_sweater_2.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love most of the patterns from Pickles. They are almost seemless, knitted in the round, simple and very easy to knit. They are also very beautiful! This pattern is knitted very quickly on size 10 needles, and the pink lines by chance make it sweeter!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dtuy-e0hON4/UI0x3foFrpI/AAAAAAAACrw/Jw-UI6c3mK4/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="270" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dtuy-e0hON4/UI0x3foFrpI/AAAAAAAACrw/Jw-UI6c3mK4/s400/knitted_sweater_2.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I will make this sweater again, for sure. This is just a try to use up some leftover scrap yarns but it came out amazingly. The color is so sweet, too!! How many times did I tell you I love it?!!! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MB1GDtroiSY/UI0xRsyLYkI/AAAAAAAACrY/W5vpuXHes78/s1600/knitted_sweater_2.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="337" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MB1GDtroiSY/UI0xRsyLYkI/AAAAAAAACrY/W5vpuXHes78/s400/knitted_sweater_2.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Thank you for stopping by, I hope you all are having a beautiful week!<br />
<br />
Take care and all the best,<br />

Sweetie has been having a neck pain so he couldn't take photo for me. It had been put it away until this morning...<br />
<br />
This morning was such a beautiful one, with sunshine and some light winds, and Sweetie is getting better. He helped to take some pictures of me wearing it... It looks quite nice and I'm pretty much pleased with it!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XsqRmUjfRz4/UIzH8dsUA6I/AAAAAAAACq0/AxcBy_LP_-s/s1600/knitted_top_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-XsqRmUjfRz4/UIzH8dsUA6I/AAAAAAAACq0/AxcBy_LP_-s/s400/knitted_top_1.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I found the pattern, <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/girly-top" target="_blank">Girly Top</a> on Ravelry when I was looking for a top to knit. It's so simple and very easy to knit. Love this pattern, it's knitted in the round, from bottom up, all just in one piece! I think it's perfect for any beginners! Here is how it looks when lying flat:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipDO7igcVft01lTh2Gzynr16vy0Sw6uLqWfsp-ieWtr1VN_5YVcBmk3ticFAxBXy08JqeIwraFeNPv_Z4gVYtYrXiX6PzQAk8DhYPzfYPb1op1dfqGNLX8z-eO82vQvKAqRjE7QSm3v6tv/s1600/knitted_top_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEipDO7igcVft01lTh2Gzynr16vy0Sw6uLqWfsp-ieWtr1VN_5YVcBmk3ticFAxBXy08JqeIwraFeNPv_Z4gVYtYrXiX6PzQAk8DhYPzfYPb1op1dfqGNLX8z-eO82vQvKAqRjE7QSm3v6tv/s400/knitted_top_1.1.jpg" width="360" /></a></div>
<br />
Using Patons Brilliant yarn for this top, I followed the pattern for size S but used larger needles (4.0mm for ribbing and 4.5mm for the rest). I liked everything about this top pattern, but millions
of stockinette stitches just took me FOREVER to finish! Finally done (phew!). So happy it fits me well!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9oLnWpP0Zfk/UIzH4gFhWhI/AAAAAAAACqs/HJYg8iBibeQ/s1600/knitted_top_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-9oLnWpP0Zfk/UIzH4gFhWhI/AAAAAAAACqs/HJYg8iBibeQ/s400/knitted_top_1.4.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>
<br />
It's so hard to take a good photo of the top with this yarn, a metallic yarn for a sparkle look. One thing I liked best about the yarn is it's smooth and easily fits, I almost didn't block though, just did some light sprays and let it dry naturally. I pretty like the yoke...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s85ykCGAnxc/UIzHyoBgDoI/AAAAAAAACqc/_8KgDq1M8B8/s1600/knitted_top_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="194" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-s85ykCGAnxc/UIzHyoBgDoI/AAAAAAAACqc/_8KgDq1M8B8/s320/knitted_top_1.2.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
... and another look from the back - actually it's the same for both sides :).<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GVMsVD0X_dE/UIzH1YdtsrI/AAAAAAAACqk/EryEEAmt1MU/s1600/knitted_top_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-GVMsVD0X_dE/UIzH1YdtsrI/AAAAAAAACqk/EryEEAmt1MU/s320/knitted_top_1.3.jpg" width="320" /></a></div>
<br />
I'm wearing it tomorrow, hope my colleagues like it. They saw me knitting it during a company trip! :)<br />
<br />
Thank you so much for popping in. Hope you are having a wonderful weekend!<br />
<br />
Take care and see you!<br />

I'm choosing yarn for another sockhead hat to join the <a href="http://stitchymcfloss.blogspot.com/2012/10/kal-with-pammy-sue-and-me-too.html" target="_blank">sockhead hat KAL</a> hosted by <a href="http://stitchymcfloss.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Stitchy Mc Floss</a> as an encouragement to dearest Pammy Sue. Pammy Sue at <a href="http://scottys-place.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Scotty's Place</a> teaches herself to knit and she wanted to knit a sockhead hat from the pattern I used to make my "<a href="http://lovestitches.blogspot.com/2012/10/fancy-sockhead-hat.html" target="_blank">Fancy hat</a>" previously.<br />
<br />
Maybe I will use the lightweight yarn leftover from a knitted top (will take photos to show you very shortly!) for matching. If you do knit, just pick up some yarn and let her know you are knitting a sockhead hat with her, too! Even if you don't knit, why don't you take this chance to give it a try together with Pammy Sue! We knit and learn together! This is going to be a lovely encouragement to her with lots of fun! :)<br />
<br />
<div style="text-align: center;">
~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~ ~</div>
<br />
Well, just to share with you some new yarn I bought when <a href="http://www.herrschners.com/" target="_blank">Herrschners.com</a> was having late summer yarn sale and I was so happy to get some more beautiful yarns to my stash. They also have weekly yarn sale and needlework sale as well.<br />
<br />
Caron Simply Soft Collection 3oz balls in Aqua mist, I so much love the yarn and the color is so much sweeter than pictured on the sites. I've been thinking of an aqua sweater!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJVrTzi9lo8/UIf4z_gC-DI/AAAAAAAACow/pGJ9OoRjX8U/s1600/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_aquamist.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="281" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-aJVrTzi9lo8/UIf4z_gC-DI/AAAAAAAACow/pGJ9OoRjX8U/s400/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_aquamist.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And these 6oz balls Caron Simply Soft are still being sold there at normal price, I picked some balls in Lavender, Autumn Red and Persimmon. A dear friend of mine chooses Caron Simply Soft for most of her projects and I'm inspired by her love for this yarn!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pYA-xmCIHOQ/UIf47-gsw4I/AAAAAAAACo4/b55kEgqzrF0/s1600/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pYA-xmCIHOQ/UIf47-gsw4I/AAAAAAAACo4/b55kEgqzrF0/s400/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I also want to try different yarn brands. Department 71 in Strawberry, wool blend, so soft and so beautiful! I took 4 skeins hoping it's enough for a sweater or a cardigan. Gosh, I'm obsessed with knitting and Ravelry now, lots of patterns of sweater, cardigan, top, pullover,... they are overwhelming my mind that I don't know which one should be made first! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Nhv9DCPfX_0/UIf5KHe2NYI/AAAAAAAACpQ/iZg5Q0zxyuo/s1600/Yarn_Department71_Twizzle_Strawberry.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="336" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-Nhv9DCPfX_0/UIf5KHe2NYI/AAAAAAAACpQ/iZg5Q0zxyuo/s400/Yarn_Department71_Twizzle_Strawberry.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The yarn with a little twist in it, will create a beautiful fabric. This can be good for baby projects as well due to the softness and the darling color...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qsSFU11_HuQ/UIf5OMb7kHI/AAAAAAAACpY/YlUkfBW-44Y/s1600/Yarn_Department71_Twizzle_Strawberry_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-qsSFU11_HuQ/UIf5OMb7kHI/AAAAAAAACpY/YlUkfBW-44Y/s400/Yarn_Department71_Twizzle_Strawberry_2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
This is one of my favorite colors, green! Lighthouse Cape Cod yarn, I've been thinking a lot about what to make with this beautiful yarn...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--L38kZU53ks/UIf4-x9kG6I/AAAAAAAACpA/cqH6_RRE9vI/s1600/Yan_Lighthouse_CapeCod.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--L38kZU53ks/UIf4-x9kG6I/AAAAAAAACpA/cqH6_RRE9vI/s400/Yan_Lighthouse_CapeCod.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love the tweedy look of it! Still not yet decided what it will be for, but surely must be something wearable! So happy I can knit! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mS4TklYrHYo/UIf5GCPE50I/AAAAAAAACpI/d4jrSZOdxKY/s1600/Yan_Lighthouse_CapeCod_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-mS4TklYrHYo/UIf5GCPE50I/AAAAAAAACpI/d4jrSZOdxKY/s400/Yan_Lighthouse_CapeCod_2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is Reynolds Playtime yarn in Cream camel. This yarn has been discontinued and was on sale as well. I should have taken 10 balls instead of 8 to ease my mind from the worry of running out of yarn, will look for a pattern called for the same yardage anyway.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gnQ-MFUDifI/UIf5R1bPuYI/AAAAAAAACpg/thSyADBImzA/s1600/Yarn_Reynolds_Kids_Playtime.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="262" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-gnQ-MFUDifI/UIf5R1bPuYI/AAAAAAAACpg/thSyADBImzA/s400/Yarn_Reynolds_Kids_Playtime.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The yarn is not too soft, but it's beautiful, wool blend and lightweight. It is described: <i>"Reynolds Play Time is a perfect kid yarn – if something is dropped on
it, you can put it in the washer, toss it in the dryer, and it’s good as
new"</i>. Sounds interesting! Maybe I should keep this for my kids when I have? :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tzJvvvuM0I/UIf5WOF4peI/AAAAAAAACpo/ZxIKHDwTTUc/s1600/Yarn_Reynolds_Kids_Playtime_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/--tzJvvvuM0I/UIf5WOF4peI/AAAAAAAACpo/ZxIKHDwTTUc/s400/Yarn_Reynolds_Kids_Playtime_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I cannot help myself taking home more yarn. Wish I could have a craft room. My stash is now full of yarn, including some I bought from local store, a lot actually, not to mention to crochet thread! A friend asked me once, "when do you expect you will use up all these yarns?". Honestly I have no idea... Just keep adding to my stash faster than I can use from it. I'm crazy about yarn, am I??? But I'm trying, so much, to attempt to keep it under control. Maybe one of my resolutions next year is "not to buy more yarn"! :)<br />
<br />
Thank you so much for stopping by...<br />
<br />
Wishing you a happy rest of the week!<br />
<br />

I didn't want to put half a ball of yarn left from the fancy "sea-foam" scarf back to my stash, so I looked for a matching hat pattern. Lucky me I found a very lovely pattern on Ravelry named <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/sockhead-hat" target="_blank">"Sockhead hat"</a>. <br />

This is the first time I heard about "sockhead" and found it's so interesting to try. It came out pretty lovely! <span class="st"></span> <br />

My yarn is a medium weight, <span class="st">heavier than what is called for - </span><span class="st">a light weight sock yarn, so</span><span class="st"><span class="st"> after checking my gauge</span> I decided to cast on less stitches: only 80 stitches on 5.0mm circular needles. Hello there! How is everyone doing? I hope you all are doing well...<br />
<br />
I hardly believe it's been over a month since I did a blog post, just feel it's been ages! I have not been blogging, either visiting blogs or responding your comments during the time... Please accept my apologies for the silence. Life has been so messy lately, so many things have happened that kept me too busy to update my blog as well kept me away <span class="st">from blogland</span>.<br />
<br />
I would like to send a huge thank you to you all, my bloggy friends, who have still been visiting, leaving kind messages to ask if I am OK or just simply stopping by to say Hello... Just let you know how much I do appreciate that... I would also like to thank you very much to my new followers, I'm so happy you find my blog somehow interesting and keep following it. Please give me some time to visit you back and enjoy your creations... It may be a bit late, I know, but surely I will. <br />
<br />
Well, I finished this scarf last month but have been waiting for a while to post it...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb82QPVfxQHqk-TuA5X-P8u26WLtbgqXcdAE0Qg08j3yVRL6jfyWKjNTAmJLdXSOGNf8ZEjFn-2TJswxw_ylqYdzhaHli6__agDMhgE5P2Av2Xv9vkmRBvpx-FlMVIqe1mXL_xZYb3iBk_/s1600/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" kea="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgb82QPVfxQHqk-TuA5X-P8u26WLtbgqXcdAE0Qg08j3yVRL6jfyWKjNTAmJLdXSOGNf8ZEjFn-2TJswxw_ylqYdzhaHli6__agDMhgE5P2Av2Xv9vkmRBvpx-FlMVIqe1mXL_xZYb3iBk_/s400/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The scarf is from a very easy and popular drop stitch pattern, named "seafoam". Lace scarf is one of my favorites, mainly because of the "not so cold" weather where I live, so when I first saw this pattern in my knitting book, I told myself I must give it a go. If you have not yet tried, it's mindless knitting and really fun to make! <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1_tc_LhtjMQ/UGLJ56v7SCI/AAAAAAAACkg/u5gZCyN7H2A/s1600/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.1.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" kea="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-1_tc_LhtjMQ/UGLJ56v7SCI/AAAAAAAACkg/u5gZCyN7H2A/s400/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.1.JPG" width="400" /> </a></div>
<br />
A closer look at the sea-foam stitches...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kcrU71r_GuY/UGLJ_eevFtI/AAAAAAAACko/_xLdhUhDsHw/s1600/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.2.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" kea="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-kcrU71r_GuY/UGLJ_eevFtI/AAAAAAAACko/_xLdhUhDsHw/s400/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.2.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When I uploaded the scarf to my projects on Ravelry, I found there's another pattern available, and it's completely the same as the pattern in my book, even has the same name, "seafoam". <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/seafoam-scarf" target="_blank">"Seafoam scarf"</a> on Ravelry - in case you wonder. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KAjRzl9T3mY/UGLKFuV9u1I/AAAAAAAACkw/H8cw_QInOoM/s1600/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.3.JPG" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="235" kea="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-KAjRzl9T3mY/UGLKFuV9u1I/AAAAAAAACkw/H8cw_QInOoM/s400/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.3.JPG" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I used a Bernat big ball (10oz - 300gr) for the scarf. This yarn is really nice to work with, it's beautiful and softer than some other types of Bernat worsted. I so much love it. The loveliest part of this yarn is you don't have to join new yarn during the work, one ball makes it all! After this scarf <span class="st">I still have a half a ball left so I'm looking for a hat pattern to match with.</span><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZW0wm73xE_g/UGLKKxuhEQI/AAAAAAAACk4/BYXVDtzw0dk/s1600/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="297" kea="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-ZW0wm73xE_g/UGLKKxuhEQI/AAAAAAAACk4/BYXVDtzw0dk/s400/knit_seafoam_scarf_1.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I have made several scarfs so far, but this is the first one I made for myself. I love it. I can imagine I'm wearing it, when my sweetie and I are enjoying a walk, on a cool autumn evening... :)<br />

<br />
Thank you so much for stopping by - I'm so glad to see you again!<br />
<br />
Wishing you all a wonderful day.<br />
<br />
Lots of love,<br />

I really love reading them and just let you know how much you have warmed my heart. I do appreciate!! <br />
<br />
I made this jar cover last Sunday morning, I just felt quite lazy and wanted to make something small and interesting to "refresh" my mind while working on my other time consuming projects...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNwClOu4HIbP48dPH-s1r8ndochK_zN5m3HLhvWaSaGUbi5y_rjz0vEv2CQMKJDEAmYEUbRkKoaK8eZlBxFRxfD3mv_15cBrTCm-oju-lzWXHHuAArdjlqBG2al72_wo-6z5YpMNReCTvX/s1600/crochet_jar_cover_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhNwClOu4HIbP48dPH-s1r8ndochK_zN5m3HLhvWaSaGUbi5y_rjz0vEv2CQMKJDEAmYEUbRkKoaK8eZlBxFRxfD3mv_15cBrTCm-oju-lzWXHHuAArdjlqBG2al72_wo-6z5YpMNReCTvX/s400/crochet_jar_cover_1.2.jpg" width="265" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I used 2 strands of light weight cotton and didn't prepare the order of colors first, they were chosen randomly. Doesn't it look lovely? I put my bamboo needles in this jar for a while and now it has a new shirt! </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">

One more thing I would want to share, I received a lovely award from a lovely bloggie friend when I was on vacation. Yufang at <a href="http://hollywood-cerise.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Hollywood Cerise</a> blog passed this award on to me and I was so happy! Thank you so much, lady for thinking of me, it's such an honor! If you haven't checked out her blog yet, she is AWESOME!<br />

<br />
It's been a while and I'm sorry for the silence, I just got back from a vacation and I'm so happy to be back to blog land. Thank you so much for your visit and kind comments during the time, that really warms my heart. Hope you had a great time. For me, I know I had!<br />
<br />
Well, you know what I took with me on the vacation, of course it must be something crocheting/knitting! I picked out a WIP sweater to work on the go, tried every moment I could on this project, and when I was home, it was almost finished! I just needed to work on the finishing and you know how excited I was to get it all done and blocked and pictured to show you! My very first sweater! Yay!!!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk3h5vR0ioh6c3Q-YjQQJEXs7u0H3Y0whRzvfVJt8FrocGuNH8B2ayf7I1UlUPwX57A_zT5qSSti0FlblVzmTaUjGMdiL5keqTiqENP77HeZ4i4X7UcRXB-XOCVf-X8C3zslmTtut6sj7K/s1600/Knitted_sweater_1.7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hea="true" height="251" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgk3h5vR0ioh6c3Q-YjQQJEXs7u0H3Y0whRzvfVJt8FrocGuNH8B2ayf7I1UlUPwX57A_zT5qSSti0FlblVzmTaUjGMdiL5keqTiqENP77HeZ4i4X7UcRXB-XOCVf-X8C3zslmTtut6sj7K/s400/Knitted_sweater_1.7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When I found this pattern at <a href="http://www.pickles.no/norwegian-summer-sweater/" target="_blank">Pickles</a>, I couldn't wait to give it a try! This is the first time I tried to knit a sweater so honestly I was not expecting it would fit me perfectly like this! You can guess how much thrilled I am! I am wearing a sweater I knitted myself!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
Name of the pattern is "Norwegian Summer Sweater", but for such a tropical country like Vietnam it's obviously not for summer at all! I so much love the yoke, how about you? :)<br />

This sweater pattern is knitted bottom-up, very quick and easy to make, perfect project for even beginners (like me). For this first try I used the yarn available in my stash, and also modified a bit on the original pattern for the bottom and the yoke (as I just don't like the curl of stk. stitches). </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
- Yarn: Bernat Super Value: 1 skein in Forest Green and about 0.25 skein in Magenta. </div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
- Needles: Circular 32": 5mm for the ribbing and 6mm for the rest to get correct gauge.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
- Modifications: - Bottom: Made 6 rounds of ribbing instead of stockinette.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
- Yoke: Added 6 rounds of ribbing.</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
</div>
<div style="text-align: left;">
A closer look at the yoke I'm just in love with:<br />
</div>

<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zm2OTOni_ys/UEg0RnrTtwI/AAAAAAAACiw/VzDgSaz4oLk/s1600/Knitted_sweater_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" hea="true" height="250" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zm2OTOni_ys/UEg0RnrTtwI/AAAAAAAACiw/VzDgSaz4oLk/s400/Knitted_sweater_1.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I got a small problem when blocking this however. After checking some instructions on Internet about blocking, I decided to block with spraying method. Everything should have been going well if my silly hand then hadn't reached a hot iron and put on the sweater (as a try with hoping it would become smoother): a little part of the fabric got too stretchy and the stitches there got so loose! Fortunately I stopped using the iron right away and the damaged area is just small so it's hard to realize. Anyway it's an experience sometimes we have to pay for. I will NEVER use a hot iron on knitted fabric again! I turned to wet blocking and it looked so pretty after getting completely dry. Lay on desk:<br />
<br />

<br />
... and on me! I can't wait until the winter comes to wear this (well, winter here lasts only a few days, though!)<br />

I always wanted to have a crocheted bolero to wear and tried to make a couple of things wearable before, but this is the FIRST one I can wear comfortably and I really love it! It was done over the weekend, you know how excited I was working on the finishings! It came out much much more beautiful than I expected! <br />
<br />
Actually I started to work on this bolero several months ago but then I just kept getting distracted by many other projects so it had been in my WIP's bag for a while, until I took it out last week and tried to get it done. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaWxgonCJRtoRqyMhNPGrVU9s21ue6pC9llQS8-WM9Me6eGfgNAh9_ogTsY8bnhDjNza2JszMd4WkSL9gy3NQAc-3DAQpmrZcEU3V19dmXwfQQ1T0wK253iewnGH8SYfHhR2st3IAeH7nu/s1600/crochet_bolero_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="351" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhaWxgonCJRtoRqyMhNPGrVU9s21ue6pC9llQS8-WM9Me6eGfgNAh9_ogTsY8bnhDjNza2JszMd4WkSL9gy3NQAc-3DAQpmrZcEU3V19dmXwfQQ1T0wK253iewnGH8SYfHhR2st3IAeH7nu/s400/crochet_bolero_4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In case you are wondering, I made this bolero using a pattern I by chance found on Picasa, in chart form. I will soon upload the pattern to share you all when I find out where it's hiding in my computer - I just printed it out to follow the instructions and cannot remember what folder I put it in - but it must be somewhere within this small machine! <br />
<br />
- Thread: DMC cotton thread No. 10 (1 ball is enough for the whole body, a little of the second ball is mainly for joining and making the borders).<br />
- Crochet hook size: 1.8mm<br />
<br />
Don't you just love these lovely fronts?<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7EcCu3sENZE/UDIVT9eicuI/AAAAAAAACfo/PXehmrt19ic/s1600/crochet_bolero_4.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" mda="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-7EcCu3sENZE/UDIVT9eicuI/AAAAAAAACfo/PXehmrt19ic/s400/crochet_bolero_4.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And a close look at the stitches... It's so soft and the creamy color is just so sweet enough for me to look at it, hold it, and feel it all the weekend!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hkkJMNG8NYM/UDIVU8XfMFI/AAAAAAAACfw/rUZzQtFiS4g/s1600/crochet_bolero_4.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="318" mda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-hkkJMNG8NYM/UDIVU8XfMFI/AAAAAAAACfw/rUZzQtFiS4g/s400/crochet_bolero_4.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love every detail of the bolero, but the most wonderful thing is it fits me sooooooo well, just like it's just for me! See how it looks on me - sorry for the "model"! :)<br />

<u><em>Note:</em></u> I added 7 rows more for the lower body parts and 3 more rows on the upper parts (as seems the cotton 10 is quite thinner than the one used in pattern). </div>

Hello all, how are you doing? I hope you all had a great weekend and your new week ahead will be a beautiful one! <br />
<br />
It's been over a week since my last post, sorry for the silence, work has been quite busy lately! Thank you so much for all your kind comments, your messages, your words of encouragement really made my day!<br />
<br />
Well, not much for today post, I just would want to share with you some lovely goodies I bought from a lovely lady on Ravelry last week. She has some beautiful yarn for sale there, I checked out <a href="http://www.ravelry.com/people/den-w/stash/trade" target="_blank">her stash</a> and picked these beauties out:<br />
<br />
Two balls of Vanna's Choice Baby, Aqua, one is wound into smaller balls. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZMWtecq-zjw/UCip3GsyiCI/AAAAAAAACeA/TR63OKTCAkQ/s1600/Yarn_Vanna%27sChoice_Baby_Aqua.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" mda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-ZMWtecq-zjw/UCip3GsyiCI/AAAAAAAACeA/TR63OKTCAkQ/s400/Yarn_Vanna%27sChoice_Baby_Aqua.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Caron Simply Soft in Country dark blue. I see some bloggy friends using this type of yarn very often for their projects and I would want to try also, but it's not available at my local craft store here, so I took all three balls and love it!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh721wt3HgawfrzMu-m8LlX8qbu2bZS5CcyUk3gJzqxDFlvnmd7Yj68Y0kkpf5kkYrr4DKYl_DL6LGJTmnMzZusarm3VWNgwi-ZEL8_I3wFFMqVuOzxv2DsDIWtkLqqaW4sUhb8EfjQzu01/s1600/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_Solid.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" mda="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEh721wt3HgawfrzMu-m8LlX8qbu2bZS5CcyUk3gJzqxDFlvnmd7Yj68Y0kkpf5kkYrr4DKYl_DL6LGJTmnMzZusarm3VWNgwi-ZEL8_I3wFFMqVuOzxv2DsDIWtkLqqaW4sUhb8EfjQzu01/s400/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_Solid.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Caron Simply Soft Paints, also very soft and has a lovely variegated colors - Oceana.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOid1ptRWl0/UCipyKcuIKI/AAAAAAAACdw/i27XHEw_e34/s1600/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_Paints.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" mda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-vOid1ptRWl0/UCipyKcuIKI/AAAAAAAACdw/i27XHEw_e34/s400/Yarn_Caron_Simply_Soft_Paints.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
Naturally Caron Country, in my favorite color... Soon I will find something beautiful to make with this lovely yarn!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V3YtK6g8KmU/UCip0apMGBI/AAAAAAAACd4/1I7nwFdH16k/s1600/Yarn_NaturalyCaron_Country.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="370" mda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-V3YtK6g8KmU/UCip0apMGBI/AAAAAAAACd4/1I7nwFdH16k/s400/Yarn_NaturalyCaron_Country.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And these Paton's Brilliant in lilac are just so soft and beautiful. This type of yarn has been discontinued, there were only 6 balls left in her stash so I took all. I've been thinking of knitting a top with these, and I'm still looking for a pattern to try!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-isZUv5KZ8D0/UCip9dEU5YI/AAAAAAAACeQ/U02RaOV5glY/s1600/Yarn_Patons_Brilliant_Lilac.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" mda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-isZUv5KZ8D0/UCip9dEU5YI/AAAAAAAACeQ/U02RaOV5glY/s400/Yarn_Patons_Brilliant_Lilac.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I've never used any kind of glitter yarn so far, but it looks just cute so I took 2 balls, this can be something fun for my baby projects... ;)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o6ACvf9IzoA/UCip7dPffGI/AAAAAAAACeI/srdmB8iUxbc/s1600/Yarn_Perfect_Knit_Glitter.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="363" mda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-o6ACvf9IzoA/UCip7dPffGI/AAAAAAAACeI/srdmB8iUxbc/s400/Yarn_Perfect_Knit_Glitter.jpg" style="cursor: move;" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
The package arrived quite fast and here is all the yarns I have bought from her:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rjYDKQNVD04/UCiqBGalt7I/AAAAAAAACeY/dwBDgsjthK8/s1600/Yarn_Goodies.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="286" mda="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-rjYDKQNVD04/UCiqBGalt7I/AAAAAAAACeY/dwBDgsjthK8/s400/Yarn_Goodies.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Look at the picture below, except a set of DPNs size 3 I also bought in the same order, all the rest are included in my package for free! Knitting needles - used and new, 11 pairs in total and a pair of Takumi circular needles together with some stitch holders - she offered them all for free as I was buying her yarns!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YPiwHU5oPkA/UCiqFVt04MI/AAAAAAAACeg/FPfGA-s2fhw/s1600/Knitting_needles_in_packed.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="353" mda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-YPiwHU5oPkA/UCiqFVt04MI/AAAAAAAACeg/FPfGA-s2fhw/s400/Knitting_needles_in_packed.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Other than that, below is some lovely stuff she included, a small ball of Simply Soft paints in rose garden and some bows, flowers,.. she made for embellishment and gifted to me as well. How nice!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IoHqbVaJGKY/UCiqICjvMPI/AAAAAAAACeo/iBTdgMSh65s/s1600/Yarn_Goodies_included.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" mda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-IoHqbVaJGKY/UCiqICjvMPI/AAAAAAAACeo/iBTdgMSh65s/s400/Yarn_Goodies_included.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
But the best part is this pair of barefoot sandals - also a gift from her! I'm going to have a vacation and these will be something very cute with me on the beach, and very sexy, too! Thank you Denise, for such cute stuff on our first deal! I love them all!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G73fZJXilEA/UCiqJ2beCDI/AAAAAAAACew/kg8o5k-ckF8/s1600/Barefoot_Sandal_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="393" mda="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-G73fZJXilEA/UCiqJ2beCDI/AAAAAAAACew/kg8o5k-ckF8/s400/Barefoot_Sandal_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And, one more thing to share is, I have received this <b>"Liebster Award</b>" from Miss Beena Stephy over at <a href="http://beenascreations.blogspot.in/" target="_blank">Beena's Creations</a>. Thank you very much, my friend, for thinking of me and has passed this award on to me, I'm so honored!
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yaltKxkI9Bo/UCiqNFJtwxI/AAAAAAAACe4/8Y0j4LbX9_I/s1600/award.png" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" mda="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-yaltKxkI9Bo/UCiqNFJtwxI/AAAAAAAACe4/8Y0j4LbX9_I/s1600/award.png" /></a></div>
<br />
I just googled the word "Liebster" and so fun to know it's German and means "Dearest", or "Beloved"! Go check out Beena's "Dearest" blog, her embroidery is amazing!!!<br />
<br />
Thank you everyone for stopping by, wishing your days are all gorgeous! <br />

Hello everyone! I am very happy you like the dotty square pattern on my last post. Thank you for all your sweet comments and compliments. I really appreciate! I made 24 squares and here is what I turned them into: a granny bag! Some of you guessed I would make a blanket - that's a lovely idea for my next projects! :)<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-limvraYOlU0/UByNkzLovrI/AAAAAAAACcg/rvsHNOU5ze4/s1600/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-limvraYOlU0/UByNkzLovrI/AAAAAAAACcg/rvsHNOU5ze4/s400/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.jpg" width="398" /></a></div>
<br />
This bag actually was done, packed and sent to the birthday girl on July 31, but I was unwell and too busy the last few days to post about it. I made the same bag a while ago, with solid granny square pattern and different type of yarn. I'm still using it and love it.<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xhSNtQDp_Xg/UByNt0Y4v7I/AAAAAAAACco/IfoAwsvYFsM/s1600/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-xhSNtQDp_Xg/UByNt0Y4v7I/AAAAAAAACco/IfoAwsvYFsM/s400/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I worked very hard on the lining for this bag. My previous one doesn't have a zipper so I'm afraid to carry important personal stuff like a wallet or so. This time I managed to sew a zipper to secure the bag, and a small zipper for the small inside pocket too. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-czKuvjxJi2Q/UByNzRvfXYI/AAAAAAAACcw/Zihi7A8ZmUY/s1600/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-czKuvjxJi2Q/UByNzRvfXYI/AAAAAAAACcw/Zihi7A8ZmUY/s400/Crochet_granny_square_bag_2.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Even this little piece to hold one end of the zipper took me a lot of effort - sew and unsew - again and again until I got pleased with it.<br />

<br />
I named this bag "Grass and Flowers", as I love the "green grass" look when it was all joined together, the dots in center of each square and the lining fabric are beautiful flowers that I really liked. The only thing is, it no longer stayed with me! <br />

I'm making a gift for my sweetie's niece, her Birthday is coming up on July 31. I wanted to make something special for her and finally ended up with these granny squares:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPgmjM8PidW5-X7xLLNcdUisQ6lk38oh9QLu5kIfkjhZDyHqkcZ4INppmF_ggYT97wfcYb_4coMVzKaDGhafdaYCLA6DRd_YykjWR500Rf9MxKxXMfmHNcFIJVwT0_XMyilGaoqE7avl1/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="317" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEiVPgmjM8PidW5-X7xLLNcdUisQ6lk38oh9QLu5kIfkjhZDyHqkcZ4INppmF_ggYT97wfcYb_4coMVzKaDGhafdaYCLA6DRd_YykjWR500Rf9MxKxXMfmHNcFIJVwT0_XMyilGaoqE7avl1/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
This is a modification of Solid granny square pattern that you may all know. I wanted it to have a dotty look so I made a small round in the center instead of a small square as the original pattern. I had to rip out and start again several times until I was pleased with the result as pictured.<br />
<br />
Written pattern of Solid granny square can be found <a href="http://crochet-mania-grannysquare.blogspot.com/2009/02/crochet-solid-granny-square-5-rounds.html" target="_blank">HERE</a>, and <a href="http://www.irishlace.net/crochet/granny-squares.html" target="_blank">HERE</a> is for those who prefer crochet chart. Below is how mine looks - My "Dotty Solid Granny Square":<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_J7aoTiGQkw/UA1vNraKMcI/AAAAAAAACbc/_8cqxROPSog/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="381" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-_J7aoTiGQkw/UA1vNraKMcI/AAAAAAAACbc/_8cqxROPSog/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
In case you are wondering, I have written down the modification and am happy to share you right here. <br />
<br />
Make a magic circle or chain 6 and join to form a ring.<br />
<br />
<strong>Round 1:</strong> Chain 3 (count as a dc), 19 dc into the loop. Join with slip stitch to the first ch-3 (20 dc).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fh0B45lYvUQ/UA1vV_sTjZI/AAAAAAAACbk/GWUR0EzR1cE/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="391" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Fh0B45lYvUQ/UA1vV_sTjZI/AAAAAAAACbk/GWUR0EzR1cE/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<strong>Round 2:</strong> Join new yarn (mine is with a secure knot).<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWFtcwu-UX_tMLserisfIC6PmvCx10FcuKIa-2DptWgnrkdY4c1xeLQIzmkFQsjQ06RMJqJXFBgJaxs4ijAiXSEMyDxT_ONer34olNmoU4qyczCgU1VeBH9RUjFIREHk-48QHMUSNnsc-/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="320" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhmWFtcwu-UX_tMLserisfIC6PmvCx10FcuKIa-2DptWgnrkdY4c1xeLQIzmkFQsjQ06RMJqJXFBgJaxs4ijAiXSEMyDxT_ONer34olNmoU4qyczCgU1VeBH9RUjFIREHk-48QHMUSNnsc-/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You will work in the stitch next to joining stitch, i.e on the right hand of the first ch 3 (as you will work 4 dc into the same stitch so working in this stitch will be easier than working right in the stitch of joining). <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ootjC_Esgn4/UA1v4MYfUWI/AAAAAAAACb0/5TH45GNIQM0/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="328" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ootjC_Esgn4/UA1v4MYfUWI/AAAAAAAACb0/5TH45GNIQM0/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Chain 5, 2 dc into the same stitch, dc in each of the next 4 stitches, * (2dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in the next stitch, dc in each of the next 4 stitches. Repeat from * 2 times more, dc in the next stitch. Join with a slip stitch to the 3rd chain of the first ch 5. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgem3sINTWDKDvz93TIoypzXXB3daj65DmABPY4uUWc7ziWNtx9RGaEieGl0XLekGUv5lJzKMgCxbgFf-gkYI088LTfT3csa7nO1Uq9p4AGRyyMW5UChjj4jn_5-UezU7c0cryQzmEFcZhx/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="355" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgem3sINTWDKDvz93TIoypzXXB3daj65DmABPY4uUWc7ziWNtx9RGaEieGl0XLekGUv5lJzKMgCxbgFf-gkYI088LTfT3csa7nO1Uq9p4AGRyyMW5UChjj4jn_5-UezU7c0cryQzmEFcZhx/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<strong>Round 3:</strong> From this round and moving forward, using the Solid granny square pattern above until you get the desired measurement. I made a chain 3 at the corners instead of chain 2 as the pattern says. So here goes the round 3:<br />
<br />
Chain 3, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the ch-2 space, dc in each of the next 8 stitches. Repeat from * 2 times more, (2 dc, ch 3, 2 dc) in the ch-2 space, dc in each of the next 7 stitches. Join with a slip stitch to the first ch 3.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zgDTU9iCgaQ/UA1yzBSW8XI/AAAAAAAACcI/9w9P2X9fMmc/s1600/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="351" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-zgDTU9iCgaQ/UA1yzBSW8XI/AAAAAAAACcI/9w9P2X9fMmc/s400/crochet_dotty_solid_granny_square_1.7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I have made 24 dotty squares, they came out beautiful! What are they for? I will show you once it's finished! It's a surprise!! :)<br />

Have you ever seen a square like this before? I was so inspired when I first saw it and couldn't help myself trying it right away! It came out so beautiful! It also has a cheerful name: "Sunburst Granny Square"!<br />
<br />

<br />
You can find how to make it <a href="http://priscillascrochet.net/free%20patterns/Afghan%20Squares/Sunburst%20Granny%20Square.pdf" target="_blank">HERE</a>. This is very fast, easy and fun to make! Go and check out the site, you may love other pretty patterns offered for free! <br />

<br />
I just intended to try the pattern so see how it comes out. But after I finished the first square, I just couldn't stop, so I made one more, just one more,..., and I have 4 for the first try! I need to keep working on my current granny square blanket and other WIPs, so I will save this pattern for a baby blanket I'm going to make when my first blanket is all done. Making granny squares is so addicted, isn't it? ;)<br />

~ Till next time, xlovestitchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00234551267144242844noreply@blogger.com32tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3081803395409933384.post-82284399145109866842012-07-16T11:52:00.002+07:002012-07-17T12:13:48.321+07:00~ Simple Pin Cushion with a Granny Square<br />
I made a few pin cushions like this before and love them. I just thought it would be lovely to share if any one of you like it as well and would want to make...<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UFtW6BP-T-M/UANhcOau_II/AAAAAAAACZs/kLtp71FvtTA/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="365" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UFtW6BP-T-M/UANhcOau_II/AAAAAAAACZs/kLtp71FvtTA/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
So here is how it's done:<br />
<br />
Sew a tiny pillow with a scarp of fabric, it's about 2.5 inch square. Stuff it with some polyfill or some unused yarn like mine. Either will do.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR1iXyrGrgP3b-Kdmu1TsUus8HVSiG32UcCYc9ZsNNj4Kg0WbH2s6cectsdw8p7fpgHeyOlasNCK11iRAZDL24hByUtf3Y_kW871iSk8oeS6cEaWJObsC2fwujBPXarDGHu1nkEucAkm5a/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="322" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjR1iXyrGrgP3b-Kdmu1TsUus8HVSiG32UcCYc9ZsNNj4Kg0WbH2s6cectsdw8p7fpgHeyOlasNCK11iRAZDL24hByUtf3Y_kW871iSk8oeS6cEaWJObsC2fwujBPXarDGHu1nkEucAkm5a/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
As I'm working on my <a href="http://lovestitches.blogspot.com/2012/06/big-project-started.html" target="_blank">Flower Blanket</a> so I made a square with the same pattern. You can make any pattern of square that you like. This one is an 5 inch square.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0d9aIarx2nE/UANhxoV4xWI/AAAAAAAACZ8/04C-885vcBQ/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="383" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0d9aIarx2nE/UANhxoV4xWI/AAAAAAAACZ8/04C-885vcBQ/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Turn the wrong side up and place the small pillow on like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhm2ZZrLwOkKDtf2hBkhXp_lkOH-5VjofXUL3xZdPMGs3VBpU6ubGcKVWP5H8CPsxye9_R4maVtESW3x9aBNdji2ibQmuomJuKxFFHi2cFiHdHXZACnVWHQGq2NMEyXEzPMlYlHPBsMyvW/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="376" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhhm2ZZrLwOkKDtf2hBkhXp_lkOH-5VjofXUL3xZdPMGs3VBpU6ubGcKVWP5H8CPsxye9_R4maVtESW3x9aBNdji2ibQmuomJuKxFFHi2cFiHdHXZACnVWHQGq2NMEyXEzPMlYlHPBsMyvW/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Fold all 4 sides toward the center...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHSMRrXZEAwolAMe2bHLH-J_WMH-F5P_LiN8FUIjSTHRk9QPlRZYaSru7Nl07wMJJJ5Gp9qnqKelzFEWUvRIr_XTBSCDUbVSWCRMS04IvqmaHxzxsPwmhblblZhKcS-AK0_FSr7Xq-Y4o4/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="387" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEhHSMRrXZEAwolAMe2bHLH-J_WMH-F5P_LiN8FUIjSTHRk9QPlRZYaSru7Nl07wMJJJ5Gp9qnqKelzFEWUvRIr_XTBSCDUbVSWCRMS04IvqmaHxzxsPwmhblblZhKcS-AK0_FSr7Xq-Y4o4/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And sew seams across.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lZhePehaW8/UANh8IlRIsI/AAAAAAAACaU/7O_9kWtzR0o/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--lZhePehaW8/UANh8IlRIsI/AAAAAAAACaU/7O_9kWtzR0o/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Turn your work. You have done a pin cushion with a granny square! Another way to make pin cushion. Super easy just in 5 minutes! Simple but still lovely.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5C5UEP6HuYg/UANiA4odxLI/AAAAAAAACac/Wlc6MI63FVA/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-5C5UEP6HuYg/UANiA4odxLI/AAAAAAAACac/Wlc6MI63FVA/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Pin me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8DFQPLuKWt4/UANiIsrMCbI/AAAAAAAACas/4_9BAhQZh30/s1600/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-8DFQPLuKWt4/UANiIsrMCbI/AAAAAAAACas/4_9BAhQZh30/s400/crochet_granny_square_pin_cushion_1.8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />

I took this pair of jeans out when I re-arranged my wardrobe last week. I didn't wear it for a long time even though I still love it. When I was looking at it, an idea suddenly came up and must say I was so excited with: I would repurpose this old pair of jeans into a bag!<br />

... And here is how it turned out! I found on Internet there are many ideas about turning unused jeans into many useful things and that inspires me a lot. Finally, I decided to make my own jean bag. Doesn't it look just lovely? :)</div>

I'm not professional at sewing at all, so making this bag is really a struggling job to me, although it looks quite easy. I used the pattern from my sewing book but for the lining I figured it out on my own.</div>

<br />
You know how happy I was to try to get this bag done. I was so excited during the whole progress of making it and in turn it didn't break my hope!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Ly8sE4ER4/T_I7BG2NHBI/AAAAAAAACY8/TNAAdpquuCM/s1600/jean_bag_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="303" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-u6Ly8sE4ER4/T_I7BG2NHBI/AAAAAAAACY8/TNAAdpquuCM/s400/jean_bag_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
A look from the bottom... I was going to attach the outer pocket on the front only, but my Sweetie suggested to sew one more on the back so both sides will look the same. I must admit he had a great idea! :)<br />

<br />
And, of course, the first thing I put into my new bag, nothing but YARN!!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
The size of this bag is 20cm height x 30cm width, so it's completely perfect for this ball of yarn!<br />

<br />
No more photos after this one, I promise! I just would want to show you a professional look of this bag :). I love every detail of this bag, the jean fabric, the zippers, the handles, the pockets... I will put my personal stuff in and get it ready for going to work tomorrow!<br />

<br />
Thank you very much for all your sweet comments on my last post. That's really a great motivation to me!<br />
<br />
When making those granny squares for my blanket, I had an idea to make a tutorial on how to tie a secure knot to join new yarn color in a new round. In my beginning days of crochet, I often worked with the new yarn a few stitches, then turned the work and tied the new yarn tail with the old one in the back. I found it quite took time and but still kept working that way until I learned the easy but very effective way to tie a secure knot that I would love to share you in my post today. <br />
<br />
There are so many ways to tie a knot as well as to join new yarn. I found this saves much time especially when you have to change many colors for your work. This may be familiar to many crocheters, but I hope it's helpful to someone who is new to crochet or looking for a better way to tie a knot for joining yarn like I was before. <br />
<br />
Okay, let's start. You have finished the first round:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AqvXTwhOrXM/T-yKBXL_28I/AAAAAAAACXM/MllchgXxAwE/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="347" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AqvXTwhOrXM/T-yKBXL_28I/AAAAAAAACXM/MllchgXxAwE/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Make a slip knot in the new yarn. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NW7AXZuOpLk/T-yKS7WNHGI/AAAAAAAACXU/Z8-WCVIkVDI/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="285" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-NW7AXZuOpLk/T-yKS7WNHGI/AAAAAAAACXU/Z8-WCVIkVDI/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Wrap the old yarn over the hook and pull it through the slip knot. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7FUdQm5CjTo/T-yKp0JSzQI/AAAAAAAACXc/vumild287J8/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="307" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-7FUdQm5CjTo/T-yKp0JSzQI/AAAAAAAACXc/vumild287J8/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Like this:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJUWxHaLp-1WfkWhdm5ceQvw9b9X1MFqlHrDPsQCMinoOFsFCfjAJ0y3DVAuIAoDJAiQ9_IyFAkYYGnNrbMCeUMGrJVUfCRk9aauHQQqg3pzJP7WXczkVSZhmG-Y1sSg0Xn6NVmkpTr0Is/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="305" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjJUWxHaLp-1WfkWhdm5ceQvw9b9X1MFqlHrDPsQCMinoOFsFCfjAJ0y3DVAuIAoDJAiQ9_IyFAkYYGnNrbMCeUMGrJVUfCRk9aauHQQqg3pzJP7WXczkVSZhmG-Y1sSg0Xn6NVmkpTr0Is/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Slide the slip knot close to the first stitch.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3b6onVbeZaQsCYrZjsBuDR9DDbL8L7dkHroc2KnqGD0-EboL-Vk5DXMxFQA30v5LkDuDoF39xtCMHsGIoJStH5MlEKd-jPQLjiG0g5NA9cp4j0sPYjUzErF8iLkX-Yr9MHSsdDzlT3BOD/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="268" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEj3b6onVbeZaQsCYrZjsBuDR9DDbL8L7dkHroc2KnqGD0-EboL-Vk5DXMxFQA30v5LkDuDoF39xtCMHsGIoJStH5MlEKd-jPQLjiG0g5NA9cp4j0sPYjUzErF8iLkX-Yr9MHSsdDzlT3BOD/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Tighten the slip knot by holding two ends of the new yarn and pull tightly.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji5UCIx7ijbCL0cEdtK90GpbGJAkukGPXuSk2lipWmU9JUS4T5QIMKCuUxXBV7wI0-uXAVmMcoRf_i0lSVqIU8_enRHQCajHhl76KySZaePN8TbZCdKdMwKl3Svy0W5vxiCDXM4JfdEjyW/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="260" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEji5UCIx7ijbCL0cEdtK90GpbGJAkukGPXuSk2lipWmU9JUS4T5QIMKCuUxXBV7wI0-uXAVmMcoRf_i0lSVqIU8_enRHQCajHhl76KySZaePN8TbZCdKdMwKl3Svy0W5vxiCDXM4JfdEjyW/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You have made a secure knot and ready to work with new yarn color. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cLx4y3MGce0/T-yLcJffPCI/AAAAAAAACX8/6Dawv_BUYo4/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="275" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-cLx4y3MGce0/T-yLcJffPCI/AAAAAAAACX8/6Dawv_BUYo4/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It looks quite long with the detailed photos of demonstration, in fact this happens just within 1/10 second! :) Just keep going with your new yarn and weave all tails later on. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGzjdx2kpwIbd0iOCbJyFxLMCGCPvF2yOEu9aMxHPINWPOHRhzZ9U3Sahc_u3wyziEyW7x6-RSTupJHQry6ty1nNlDRcd80oU-G0KHXkHCZNmr4L-xwb1deCjK72Ozco9XLs77IwQUuEQ9/s1600/tie_a_secure_knot_1.7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="332" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEgGzjdx2kpwIbd0iOCbJyFxLMCGCPvF2yOEu9aMxHPINWPOHRhzZ9U3Sahc_u3wyziEyW7x6-RSTupJHQry6ty1nNlDRcd80oU-G0KHXkHCZNmr4L-xwb1deCjK72Ozco9XLs77IwQUuEQ9/s400/tie_a_secure_knot_1.7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I love working with colors and was so happy to find my favorite way to tie a secure knot. I do the same with knitting too, and other things that need to be tied together...<br />

It's a granny square blanket. My first REALLY BIG project. <br />
<br />
I have dreamed of a granny square blanket for a couple of years. I tried some granny square patterns before but not for blanket. It's so BIG and may take me years to finish... But I'm terribly inspired by so many talented ladies making their blankets, from ripples, squares, to hexagons, flowers,..., they are all adorable! So, took a deep breath (just as I was so excited! :)), I was headed to the craft store over the weekend and took home some more lovely yarns:<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KSDwOsWN7dI/T-nVCqA2RDI/AAAAAAAACWA/CFpDa-T82S0/s1600/yarn_4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-KSDwOsWN7dI/T-nVCqA2RDI/AAAAAAAACWA/CFpDa-T82S0/s400/yarn_4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I decided to use the <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/weblog/summer-garden-granny-square.html" target="_blank">granny square pattern</a> from Lucy at <a href="http://attic24.typepad.com/" target="_blank">Attic24</a>. It's so beautiful and caught my heart right the first time I saw it. But it's most wonderful when I'm making it myself! Oh my Gosh, if only I know how amazing to make these sooner!<br />
<br />
How cute to start from these lovely circles:<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7gZaE0uRCo8/T-nVQwe7CBI/AAAAAAAACWI/155GdwMaZO0/s1600/crochet_circles_1.jpg.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="372" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-7gZaE0uRCo8/T-nVQwe7CBI/AAAAAAAACWI/155GdwMaZO0/s400/crochet_circles_1.jpg.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />

...to these!!! Here is how my blanket looks when it's finished! I've not yet counted how many squares for my blanket in total, it must be a lot!!! Well, still have a lot of work ahead, but attractive work, don't you think so?! :)<br />

<br />
The more making these granny squares, the more I get addicted! I just love to take this basket when I get home from work every day! Happiness comes from just such little things!!! <br />

Lovely Jee Q at <a href="http://jeereparip.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Learning to write</a> and Rob at <a href="http://boyscancrochet.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Men Crochet</a> have passed this Sunshine Award on to me earlier this week. I'm so happy and feel warm in my heart for the thoughtfulness from our bloggy friends. Thank you both, it's so nice of you to think of me and send some sunshine to my days! I'm very hornored!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nihImEKcJPQ/T-PuWNmuRHI/AAAAAAAACVE/HcrVl58EGtY/s1600/Sunshine_Blog_Award.jpg" imageanchor="1"><img border="0" height="199" rca="true" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-nihImEKcJPQ/T-PuWNmuRHI/AAAAAAAACVE/HcrVl58EGtY/s200/Sunshine_Blog_Award.jpg" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;" width="200" /></a></div>
<div>
It's my turn to answer 10 questions: </div>
<ol>
<li>Favorite Animal: Dogs</li>
<li>Favorite Number: I have no idea :)</li>
<li>Favorite Non-Alcoholic Drink: Coffee</li>
<li>Facebook or Twitter? None</li>
<li>My Passion: Crafting</li>
<li>Getting or Giving: Both</li>
<li>Favorite Pattern: So many</li>
<li>Favorite Day of the Week: Saturday and Sunday (I love weekend!) </li>
<li>Favorite Flower: As long as it's flower.</li>
<li>Favorite Country: So many </li>
</ol>
This time, allow me to skip the part of nominating this award to 10 blogs as I did previously with other awards. To be honest, there are so many beautiful blogs and all of them deserve the award so I think 10 is not enough. I would want to pass this award to all my bloggy friends and my followers who have been encouraging me so much with my crafting so far. Once again, thank you! <br />
<br />
<div>
</div>
Well, back to my crafting topic (as usual :)), I have bought these balls of crochet thread, they will be used for my next project, a top pattern in my crochet book. I love this variegate color so much! Sweetie chose it for me knowing it's my favorite! I will try it soon!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WWMUIFHp6Ig/T-Pw4o0gOBI/AAAAAAAACVQ/jwAFGmfi6qI/s1600/crochet_thread_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="392" rca="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-WWMUIFHp6Ig/T-Pw4o0gOBI/AAAAAAAACVQ/jwAFGmfi6qI/s400/crochet_thread_3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
I think these balls of thread is perfect for something lacy, they are just so sweet!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JFvoOJ-jKwo/T9nAf721CsI/AAAAAAAACSI/4PPb5IC609g/s1600/crochet_thread_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="290" pca="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-JFvoOJ-jKwo/T9nAf721CsI/AAAAAAAACSI/4PPb5IC609g/s400/crochet_thread_2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And these balls of cotton thread I don't know what to make with, just love the colors!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcRdbnO327I/T9nAnDwPouI/AAAAAAAACSQ/8h2K9ajA_DM/s1600/crochet_thread_3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" pca="true" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-EcRdbnO327I/T9nAnDwPouI/AAAAAAAACSQ/8h2K9ajA_DM/s400/crochet_thread_3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
<div>
Here are 2 balls of yarn I will knit a sweater for my sweetie. When I first saw the pattern on my knitting book, I know I will make it for him! Oh I just wish I will retire right tomorrow (not 25 years later), so I can have full time for my crafting and do whatever I'd like to! :)</div>
<div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: left;">
I love bamboo knitting needles pretty much, but the store I often visit doesn't have this kind. Last week I stopped by a small craft shop and found them there! Exactly what I was looking for! I took a set of 9 pairs, from 3.0 mm till 10.0mm. </div>
<br />
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCjvzoS95kFzcNcZW6ZIo_y8DK1gXYZixdqHR5t6kVzhWmY4wB3pCjmNiOwqs0yekvr9uHN5rRTXyOlsNYRBIWgHydCx66a4y2GemUzPepLMwLYe9JRJ6ia4RVz3Fnp2yVczSQaDBJ758p/s1600/bamboo_knitting_needles_2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="400" pca="true" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjCjvzoS95kFzcNcZW6ZIo_y8DK1gXYZixdqHR5t6kVzhWmY4wB3pCjmNiOwqs0yekvr9uHN5rRTXyOlsNYRBIWgHydCx66a4y2GemUzPepLMwLYe9JRJ6ia4RVz3Fnp2yVczSQaDBJ758p/s400/bamboo_knitting_needles_2.jpg" width="391" /></a></div>
<br />
I just love, love, love it! Even though I have still not yet experienced bamboo knitting needles before, they are just too lovely! People say that if we use them a lot we may find they will benefit from a light sanding every now and then to keep them nice and smooth and to keep the tips from breaking our yarn. Sounds great!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ma2M44ZGZYA/T9nA9uoqUVI/AAAAAAAACSo/S8v4X8gjrUU/s1600/bamboo_knitting_needles_2.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" pca="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-Ma2M44ZGZYA/T9nA9uoqUVI/AAAAAAAACSo/S8v4X8gjrUU/s400/bamboo_knitting_needles_2.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My knitting needles case is now filled with these! But it's OK, I will sew a new one, as the fact is, sooner or later, I will take home more! :)<br />
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cq6aqiKz1Qw/T9nBEBJ6oyI/AAAAAAAACSw/xh0UZdEPZr0/s1600/knitting_needles_case.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="385" pca="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cq6aqiKz1Qw/T9nBEBJ6oyI/AAAAAAAACSw/xh0UZdEPZr0/s400/knitting_needles_case.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<div>
</div>
<div>
<br />
I also took this one from the mini craft store. A ball winder. I have some big balls of yarn and this is a good idea to wind them into many smaller ones to easily go with my purse - crochet on the way!</div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3vFgDzMXYfs/T9nBUfMCkNI/AAAAAAAACTE/uME_sInrgUg/s1600/wool_winder.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" pca="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-3vFgDzMXYfs/T9nBUfMCkNI/AAAAAAAACTE/uME_sInrgUg/s400/wool_winder.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div>
<br />
Some balls I have winded... Anything related to yarn is all so fun!!! :)<br />
<br /></div>
<div>
</div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

I love making socks but I was afraid to try, double point needles are so scary! I actually tried DPNs once or twice before, but then I quit and found it was so troublesome. I prefer circulars to DPNs. But lately after looking around some blogs and getting inspired by so many talented ladies making their beautiful socks, I came up with an idea: I would knit my own socks! Oh men! But, why not??!!<br />
<br />
Picked out a ball of yarn and a set of 4 DPNs (4.00 mm as the pattern calls for), searched for a simple pattern and I was ready to go... You can find the pattern <a href="http://www.canadianliving.com/crafts/knitting/amazing_feets.php" target="_blank"><strong>here</strong></a><strong> -</strong> very clear instruction and easy to follow!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zrUbJ7wHlnw/T96w_P2PB8I/AAAAAAAACTw/rkN_kUSLhNY/s1600/knit_socks_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="311" rca="true" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-zrUbJ7wHlnw/T96w_P2PB8I/AAAAAAAACTw/rkN_kUSLhNY/s400/knit_socks_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
See how it came out! I can't believe I have knitted a complete sock, this is over my expectation! Hardly wait to finish the second one to have a pair of socks and show you! It's a very simple sock indeed, but to me, it is an achievement! :)</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dJP4eYd5oJI/T96wXIU4PLI/AAAAAAAACTY/yQ40NJNTqD8/s1600/knit_socks_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="348" rca="true" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-dJP4eYd5oJI/T96wXIU4PLI/AAAAAAAACTY/yQ40NJNTqD8/s400/knit_socks_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
I got help with some videos from many kind ladies on Youtube for the gussets and stitch picking up. How cool to see the "transformation" at this part, little stitch by little stitch! </div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
The sock fits my leg but when wearing, its color looks like a tiger's skin! But does it matter, when the most important thing is now I can knit socks, and leave the scare of DPNs behind?!! :)</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none; clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br /></div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<strong>P.S:</strong> I'm having problem with my Internet, and unable to view any Blogs, both Blogger and Wordpress. I tried with Google Chrome but it doesn't help. However, I still can log on Blogger Dashboard, I can post, can edit post and read your comments, I just cannot view all blogs! How upset! Can anyone help please? <br />
<br />
I just hope it will be fixed soon, soon, soon! Good news is I can try my lunch time to visit as many of your blogs as I can from my company's computer where such an issue doesn't exist!</div>
<div style="border-bottom: medium none; border-left: medium none; border-right: medium none; border-top: medium none;">
<br />
Thank you for your time, wishing everyone a great week ahead!</div>

Finally some yarn left is still enough for this hat... I was so happy enjoying how it was turning out, stitch by stitch!<br />
<br />
This is a very quick and easy project that only takes about 3-4 hours for a beginner like me to finish, I believe it's just around 1-1.5 hours for knitting experts to play with!<br />

<br />
I made the hat using <a href="http://www.lionbrand.com/patterns/90625B.html?noImages=0" target="_blank">this pattern</a> from Lion Brand. I was just worried about running out of yarn so I adjusted a little bit on the decrease for shape crown. But it was also fine, the hat still came out so much pretty and I love the rib edging very very much!<br />

<br />
It's so soft and warm. I love this, as much as the cowl I finished last week. I believe my Mom does, too!<br />
<br />
Wishing everyone a gorgeous weekend ahead.<br />

<br />
I just looked back to the date of my last post, it's almost half a month I didn't have any updates on my blog. Life has so many distractions to keep us away from things we would love to do... But I'm doing well and happy to be back now. I would want to thank you to all my bloggy friends, who always stop by for a visit, or to leave words of encouragement on my crafting projects, or just simply to say "Hello"... That means so much to me.<br />
<br />
Well, not much for my post today, as I don't have many projects working on recently. I have just finished a cowl that I tried each moment I had the last few weeks to knit for my sweet Mom, and I'm so happy to show you here:<br />

This is the first time I made my mom a cowl. She often wraps a scarf around her neck at night not to get cough. The combination of the yarn and the ridges makes it looks thick and very soft that she can wear during the cold days... I will make her a new scarf to use alternatively with the current one.</div>

<br />
Maybe it's one of characteristics of tropical climate, sometimes very hot and dry all day, but getting so cold at night, that's why people still need to keep warm even though most of people here wear a lace scarf mainly for being fashionable!<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
In case you wonder, I made the cowl with three skeins of this yarn, 6.00mm circular knitting needles.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMUEBhvD6Ts/T8xPJjUg4BI/AAAAAAAACQ4/aRgaF3tUvwg/s1600/yarn_wool.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" fba="true" height="293" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-pMUEBhvD6Ts/T8xPJjUg4BI/AAAAAAAACQ4/aRgaF3tUvwg/s400/yarn_wool.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Still have some yarn left, I will make her a hat to have a set of "winter collection" (hehe). I just found a lovely hat pattern also from Lion Brand, hope I won't run out of yarn halfway! Wish me luck! :) <br />

Hello, hello, how is everyone doing? I hope you all are enjoying your great week ahead! The last few days have been so busy for me to blog... Thank you so much for your visit and the kind words you have left on my blog meant so much to me. I do appreciate!<br />
<br />
I have embroidered these lovely daisies over the weekend...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<br />
That's it, my small needle case! A new place for my needles, they were put on the pin cushions all the time. I hope they enjoy their new home!<br />

~ Thank you for your time, wishing you a wonderful day!!!<br />
<br />lovestitchhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/00234551267144242844noreply@blogger.com26tag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3081803395409933384.post-7570475785965761612012-05-06T19:23:00.000+07:002012-05-06T22:15:38.483+07:00Organizing embroidery threadsHi everyone!<br />
<br />
Thank your for your words of encouragement on my embroidery, that meant so much to me!<br />
<br />
As shared in my previous post, I had intention of organizing all my embroidery threads. I bought a storage box, some sets of plastic bobbins and this plastic bobbin winder by DMC, all were ready for my organizing task. But after a few times using this tool to wind them onto bobbins per the instruction on the label, I found that it took a lot of time, especially when I had to do that with hundreds skeins of thread... <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KqGUXGi2qwI/T6X7eyTqj3I/AAAAAAAACOA/5sR-rgioyL8/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="225" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-KqGUXGi2qwI/T6X7eyTqj3I/AAAAAAAACOA/5sR-rgioyL8/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I tried to figure out if there are any way faster, easier to wind all my threads instead of spending hours and hours hand winding. My sweetie suggested that I should try with my sewing machine, he thought it might help. Oh what a wonderful idea! I did it and the result was just GREAT! So, I'm very happy to share with you how I organized my threads with my sewing machine!<br />
<br />
Okay, let's start. You will need:<br />
<ul>
<li>These 2 pieces of the bobbin winder (just take it apart - very easy).</li>
<li>Floss bobbin (plastic card) which you have written the thread color number on.</li>
<li>A small plastic tube that is about 1 inch (I cut from a bag handle the craft store gave me for storing yarn). </li>
</ul>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j_LdtUol5ZI/T6X7nY8gZKI/AAAAAAAACOI/aqHKRtPcca0/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="292" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-j_LdtUol5ZI/T6X7nY8gZKI/AAAAAAAACOI/aqHKRtPcca0/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Now put the card holder piece into the plastic tube. You may need some fire to get it closely fit together. <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QLH08fq-fzM/T6X7vNtQeXI/AAAAAAAACOQ/t1SMbaznYpI/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="316" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-QLH08fq-fzM/T6X7vNtQeXI/AAAAAAAACOQ/t1SMbaznYpI/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Put the rest of the tube on the bobbin winder shaft of the sewing machine, slightly press to be sure it fully covers the bobbin winder shaft and the card holder piece is right on the shaft (no space in between). <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wN0JlZ-uJq4/T6X8EfFhORI/AAAAAAAACOY/0SXDJia5SAI/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="306" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-wN0JlZ-uJq4/T6X8EfFhORI/AAAAAAAACOY/0SXDJia5SAI/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.3.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
You also need to unwind your thread by using the sewing machine handle, hold the thread and pull slightly, very quick and easy. Believe me, you don't want to get any tangle during the winding process.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bUV1E4K84_M/T6X8NkM7xCI/AAAAAAAACOg/hNXPYR6cLhM/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.4.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-bUV1E4K84_M/T6X8NkM7xCI/AAAAAAAACOg/hNXPYR6cLhM/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.4.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Insert the card in between the card holder piece and push the peg tightly to secure it.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QGJw1CXl0Ns/T6X8gn6kneI/AAAAAAAACOo/GPzypIl402o/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="365" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-QGJw1CXl0Ns/T6X8gn6kneI/AAAAAAAACOo/GPzypIl402o/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.5.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Wrap the thread around the card a few times and slide the bobbin winder shaft to the right. You are ready to go!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RxPmJFwAxJU/T6X8rYG3E4I/AAAAAAAACOw/5AoATeB7Ols/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.6.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="343" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-RxPmJFwAxJU/T6X8rYG3E4I/AAAAAAAACOw/5AoATeB7Ols/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.6.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Hold the thread with your hand, start the sewing machine as if you are winding the bobbin for sewing. For the first few times, you may want to set the speed of your sewing machine at low level for easy winding, when you "master" it, you can set the speed at higher level and your job will be done much faster! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RSZmMyFcS94/T6X8zMoffaI/AAAAAAAACO4/eRYzUm6RveE/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.7.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="355" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-RSZmMyFcS94/T6X8zMoffaI/AAAAAAAACO4/eRYzUm6RveE/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.7.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Wind as many threads onto bobbins as you want... You will get into it!!! :)<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0IN0eDimSh4/T6X87lBmzGI/AAAAAAAACPA/oqKynr049BM/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.8.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="350" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-0IN0eDimSh4/T6X87lBmzGI/AAAAAAAACPA/oqKynr049BM/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.8.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My organizing task was done and here is my storage box...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidKOakrhho-uuVr5hXvVrgjQ1nymKyx4TGet0_S-XSx6S2qzpz7PLxduVSgEFvMrhnzgEP95JXWissKVHU2gsZ-cr2sWOZjxCQYMHjeaLHcCsclLd55YxjEXBadJc-rjDSxT0hQsEJDXRu/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.10.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="300" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEidKOakrhho-uuVr5hXvVrgjQ1nymKyx4TGet0_S-XSx6S2qzpz7PLxduVSgEFvMrhnzgEP95JXWissKVHU2gsZ-cr2sWOZjxCQYMHjeaLHcCsclLd55YxjEXBadJc-rjDSxT0hQsEJDXRu/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.10.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't throw these floss labels with color number away, I'm keeping them in a small box just in case... <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eU4b2oLna3M/T6X9ieLFnNI/AAAAAAAACPY/MFec4AjeL1k/s1600/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.9.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="340" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-eU4b2oLna3M/T6X9ieLFnNI/AAAAAAAACPY/MFec4AjeL1k/s400/organizing_embroidery_thread_1.9.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Still have some more but the box is full, I need to try to put them into as well, or I may need to buy another box!<br />

It's embroidery and also my first craft. I learned to embroider when I was twelve or so, from the sisters in my area and did embroidery for some years. I used to embroider on traditional costumes and other home stuff...<br />
<br />
It's been almost 15 years I didn't embroider, but the love for embroidery is still in my heart. I have a very special feeling each time I see someone working on their embroidery projects, or enjoy someone's projects on their sites. That is such an inspiration to me and I decided to get back! Yeah, my embroidery!<br />
<br />
My sweetie took my to the craft store for these little cuties...<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PWDathZyNI4/T58k01hyxTI/AAAAAAAACMs/72rOi8J1gNs/s1600/embroidery_thread_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="256" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-PWDathZyNI4/T58k01hyxTI/AAAAAAAACMs/72rOi8J1gNs/s400/embroidery_thread_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I don't do cross-stitch, so I don't have to follow any charts to select my thread, I picked many colors which I can play with later on.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nx55D_lb23A/T58k_4lPecI/AAAAAAAACM0/mc_V_sDigoI/s1600/embroidery_thread_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="346" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-nx55D_lb23A/T58k_4lPecI/AAAAAAAACM0/mc_V_sDigoI/s400/embroidery_thread_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
I cannot take all over 400 DMC color codes (too many for a re-beginner like me), so I picked these colors based on my new book: "A-Z of Embroidered Flowers"... More than 130 skeins in different colors which I think it's good enough for me!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheCpVcIG98bd7R-GN9KXdTOdDN2sTSsPi9i9jkAm29-xJ06LS0eCxQw7OtVLja6LOWhRJIWOjEFMxPD_sFNdhTwcB1bAFSBXz16FzYFqE4ozpSln0HTDv0dkrFgqfFCroow1lAzYpLdtuO/s1600/embroidery_thread_1.2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="331" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEheCpVcIG98bd7R-GN9KXdTOdDN2sTSsPi9i9jkAm29-xJ06LS0eCxQw7OtVLja6LOWhRJIWOjEFMxPD_sFNdhTwcB1bAFSBXz16FzYFqE4ozpSln0HTDv0dkrFgqfFCroow1lAzYpLdtuO/s400/embroidery_thread_1.2.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
When looking through this book at the store, I realized that there are so many stitches I've never used or known before! I need to learn about the stitches from the basic ones, I believe this book helps! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZLWC5cs1_QULWzjiPi-vJLAVeKhTk6E0G-ZxMZEqYCHY9HBdSHNVUej1Z9hn0tL8DvRWHAtoW9JRhiCUr6nIEljMqm6l2YKsLd9dRxil9QGeiK7NxDcEIaUjPlQoWJrQyxDUt8qajpsq4/s1600/embroidery_books_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="341" src="https://blogger.googleusercontent.com/img/b/R29vZ2xl/AVvXsEjZLWC5cs1_QULWzjiPi-vJLAVeKhTk6E0G-ZxMZEqYCHY9HBdSHNVUej1Z9hn0tL8DvRWHAtoW9JRhiCUr6nIEljMqm6l2YKsLd9dRxil9QGeiK7NxDcEIaUjPlQoWJrQyxDUt8qajpsq4/s400/embroidery_books_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
And here is the book I mentioned above. There are a lot of beautiful flower patterns with clear pictures of demonstration, and the instructions are very detailed and easy to follow. The authors also listed what kind and colors of thread were used per each pattern so it's really helpful. I have enough colors the patterns in this book call for, but I know it's a good reference, I love creating myself.<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDFNzO8Qn7c/T58mPbpmRNI/AAAAAAAACNM/dXfFz0gOJdQ/s1600/embroidery_books_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="371" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-cDFNzO8Qn7c/T58mPbpmRNI/AAAAAAAACNM/dXfFz0gOJdQ/s400/embroidery_books_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
Well, it took us almost half day for all those things, but it didn't matter with my sweetie :). He had to wait for me so long playing around the store many times before and always was with a smile when I showed him this and that in the store! My awesome man always encourages me greatly to do my crafts! He made this one for me when I told him I would be back to embroidery and wanted to have such a thing. Cool?!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VYGUIjit5Vc/T58mcSzaVlI/AAAAAAAACNU/N6cPDR0murk/s1600/embroidery_frame_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="396" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-VYGUIjit5Vc/T58mcSzaVlI/AAAAAAAACNU/N6cPDR0murk/s400/embroidery_frame_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
It's a frame to hold the embroidery hoop in place when I'm stitching. Oh how I love it, thank you honey, you are sweetest!!<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkCYcjaLyE8/T58m748gW6I/AAAAAAAACNk/msnDrjL4MOE/s1600/embroidery_frame_1.1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="337" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-pkCYcjaLyE8/T58m748gW6I/AAAAAAAACNk/msnDrjL4MOE/s400/embroidery_frame_1.1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
My threads need to be organized to get ready for my needlework projects. I found this DMC storage box really good and easy to carry. I will take on the task of organizing my embroidery threads as soon as I can! <br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AOSeA4X7UDY/T58nFjFwldI/AAAAAAAACNs/19vxEacfag0/s1600/embroidery_tools_1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="302" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-AOSeA4X7UDY/T58nFjFwldI/AAAAAAAACNs/19vxEacfag0/s400/embroidery_tools_1.jpg" width="400" /></a></div>
<br />
But let me play with them a bit before getting them organized... I love colors!!!<br />
